IL-07 Candidate Raises More than $150,000 in Q4 with Over $134,000 Cash on Hand
CHICAGO, IL—As candidates for Illinois’ 7th Congressional District publicly report their Q4 2025 fundraising numbers, candidate Reed Showalter said, “Our campaign finance system is broken. Candidates should be able to spend their time talking to people they are running to represent, not spending hours daily calling potential donors. What’s worse is candidates cashing checks from special interests and calling it representation. Jason Friedman will answer to AIPAC. Melissa Conyears-Ervin will back crypto. I will fight for the people of the 7th District. My beliefs are not for sale.”
In the fourth quarter of 2025, Reed Showalter raised more than $150,000, averaging $46 per donation from 2,276 unique donors. This brings his total raise in 2025 to more than $253,000. Reed’s campaign has over $134,000 cash on hand. Showalter does not accept contributions from corporate PACs, AIPAC, or other special interests corrupting American politics.
As of February 1st, Reed’s campaign has surpassed 3,000 unique donors.
“I am tremendously grateful to every single person who has joined this movement take on corporate power, lower costs, and fight fascism,” said congressional candidate Reed Showalter. “And also, it is insane that candidates must raise this kind of money to make a serious run for Congress. We know that our campaign finance system is designed to favor the wealthy and well-connected. But this campaign shows that grassroots energy are stronger than the influence of corporate PACs and dark money.”
Reed Showalter has spent his career in federal public service taking on corporate power, working in Congress as well as the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Justice, and the White House National Economic Council. Reed, an Oak Park-native living in the West Loop, is running to represent his home district to make life more affordable and take back our democracy from the billionaire class.
